At Buffalo Creek Outfitters, every hunt is custom built around you - your experience level, your goals, and the adventure you want to have. Whether you’re chasing a slam or just want a good day in wild country with good dogs, we’ve got you covered.

What’s Your Ideal Hunt?

The Hardcore Bird Hunter

Want to push deep into remote country and test your endurance? If you want long hikes, tough birds, and wild country we’ll take you where the birds don’t see many hunters.

The Classic Wing Shooter

Prefer a traditional upland experience with great dogs, great company, and a steady pace? We’ll set the pace just right to keep things fun and fruitful.

The Family Experience

Bringing a new hunter? We specialize in making the experience safe, fun, welcoming and rewarding for kids, spouses, and those new to the sport.

Hunt Information

All of our upland bird hunts are operated as “Day Hunts”. This means your guide will pick you up from your lodging at a prearranged time and transport you to the hunt area for the day’s adventure. Each hunt is paced to your fitness and comfort level but expect a full day on your feet. Terrain includes sage flats, rocky draws, and wide-open basins in Wyoming’s high desert. It’s wild country-and that’s what makes it unforgettable. It’s important for you to set realistic expectations and come prepared for an active day.

Sage Grouse Updates

Historically Sage Grouse season in Wyoming opens the 3rd Saturday of September and runs through the end of the month. For the 2025 season, that gives us 11 DAYS to get after these iconic birds. If a sage grouse hunt is on your list, book early - these dates will fill fast, and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

As of 2024, all sage grouse hunters are required to carry a free, annual sage grouse hunting permit. This new regulation aims to enhance the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s efforts to survey sage grouse hunters and gather valuable data on their hunting experiences. The sage grouse permit can be acquired at Game and Fish offices or online through the department’s website. Don’t forget it - you’ll need this permit in addition to your regular hunting license and stamps.

    • Single hunter: $1000 per day

    • 2+ hunters: $650/gun per day

    • Observer: $20/day

For the best shooting opportunities we recommend hunting in a pair. Max hunter-to-guide ratio is 4 to 1 on all trips. Multiple guides are available.

*We add a 3% surcharge for credit card payments and a 1% surcharge for ACH transactions—just enough to cover what it costs us to accept them.

Want to skip the additional fees? You're always welcome to pay by cash, check, or cashier’s check instead!
